Welcome to The Remnant. We’ve put together some information here that anticipates and tries to briefly answer some of the questions you may have prior to visiting our church for the first time,
ATMOSPHERE
It's important to us that you feel welcome when visiting. We hope our atmosphere will help you feel relaxed and comfortable. The music and worship are built around Biblical themes that are timeless. We are glad to have you join us in worship! You will be greeted and welcomed.
FAMILY FRIENDLY
No matter your family dynamics, you're welcome at The Remnant and we're excited for you to consider being a part of our church family! Our intent is to serve the whole family. During the sermon, we have care available for children and infants.
BIBLICAL TEACHING
Here at The Remnant, we place a high priority on the preaching and teaching of God's Word. The worship service is a time for us to come together as a community to learn, be encouraged and to be challenged by God's Word. Other opportunities exist beyond the Sunday worship service where members have a chance to grow, fellowship, or otherwise be a part of a Church family that lives out their faith together.

We invite you to come and check us out this weekend at our 10AM Sunday morning service. You’ll discover a warm atmosphere, practical teaching from God's Word and lots of friendly people pursuing God together. Childcare and classes for all ages -- your family will love it too!

SENIOR PASTORS
DAVID AND CATHY SELLSTROM
They have been instrumental leaders of The Remnant since 2010. They were installed as Senior Pastors in 2018. They are called to equip the saints for the work of the ministry by building Solid Lives through the Word of God.
Pastor David and Cathy reside in Olympia, WA. They are seasoned business owners and stellar entrepreneurs. They enjoy spending time with their family, cooking and playing golf. They have a blended family of 7 beautiful children and 13 grandchildren. They love the Word of God and want to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ wherever they go.
Pastor David, attended Stephen Olford’s Institute for Biblical Preaching and the Institute of Pastoral Studies. He held an international Foursquare Pastor's license for 15 years. David’s first assignment was as a Youth Pastor for Bethel Assembly of God Church in Yreka, CA. He was on the Worship Team for Bethel Assembly of God and the Youth Pastor at Little Country Church of Burney, CA. Pastor David was Senior Pastor of Solid Rock Foursquare Church in Burney CA for 18 years. He moved to Olympia WA to manage the Building Campaign at Church of Living Water in 2005. Pastor David became the Associate Pastor of New Hope Ministry Center in 2014. Pastor David is an accomplished musician and his banner scripture is Isaiah 61.
Pastor Cathy started in 2008 on the Prophetic Team. She has lead the Prophetic Team since 2014, lead Women’s Ministry, taught classes in Prophetic and Healing and is the organizational back bone of The Remnant. She has a degree in accounting and leads our administrative operations. You will find Pastor Cathy most Sundays ministering in her prophetic gifting and loving on all who step in the door. Her banner scripture is Ephesians 3:20.
FINANCIAL BOARD
FELIX PEGUERO
Felix is a Financial Planner with Asiron Wealth Group. He has over 18 years of experience in financial planning and investment wealth management. Felix and his wife, Anna, have 1 daughter and 2 sons. In his spare time he enjoys traveling, photography and spending time with family and friends.
SAM KNUTSON
Sam is retired from 38 years as the Controller for the Judicial Section of WA State. He teaches classes in Economics for State of WA Employees. Sam and his wife, Keturah, have 1 son. They are the Worship Leaders at The Remnant Church and enjoy traveling and making music with their friends.
CRAIG KEATING
Craig has been married to his wife Kendal since 1986 and has 4 children, and 8 grandchildren. Craig also leads the Men’s Breakfast and serves as an Elder. He attended BSF for 7 years and has Biblical counseling training. Together, Craig and his wife have served in Marriage Ministry for over 25 years and are both fully certified in both Prepare & Enrich and Open Hearts. They enjoy working in their yard, gardening and having fun with their grandchildren.
MINISTRY COUNCIL
GARY AND KERRY LEEPER
Gary and Kerry Leeper weRe married in 2014 and have 4 Children and 4 grandchildren. Gary is the Shipping Manager for Truss Components of WA and Kerry is a Transportation Bus Monitor for the Olympia
School District. They have been members of The Remnant since 2016. Gary is a member of the Elder Board and helps with various projects around the church. Kerry is a co-leader of The Edge Discipleship Class, a Shepherdess, and has served for years on the
Healing Team. They love watching the grandkids play their sports, going to the beach and on vacations together as well as visiting family who are out of state.
VERN AND KATHY TOLSON
Vern and Kathy Tolson were married in 1996. They are both retired and have been involved in ministry since 2011 in prayer and counseling. They moved to Tumwater in 2021 and joined The Remnant in 2023. Vern is the Prayer Team leader and an Elder at The Remnant. Kathy is on the Prayer Team and a Shepherdess. The Tolsons have 4 children, 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. They enjoy
spending time in their RV and garden and with their dog and 2 cats.
CRAIG & KENDAL KEATING
Craig and Kendal Keating have been married since 1986 and have 4 children, and 8 grandchildren. Kendal has a Biblical counseling certification from Calvary Chapel University. She has been a leader in BSF, Bible teacher and director of Womens ministry. Kendal
currently serves as Pastor David’s Assistant at The Remnant. Craig is on the Financial Board, leads the Men’s Breakfast and serves as an Elder. He attended BSF for 7 years and has Biblical counseling training. Together, they have served in Marriage Ministry for over 25 years and are both fully certified in both Prepare & Enrich and Open Hearts. They enjoy working in their yard, gardening and having fun with their grandchildren.
